Currently in the progress of giving plenty of TLC and getting ready for the 2017 season!
We are now at the end of our 2012 season sailing season, and without doubt, one of the best. The weather in our part of the West Coast of Scotland was extremely good with lots of sunshine so we were able to get the best out of the sailing and the wildlife watching. Without a doubt getting close to a breaching Humpback Whale in Loch Long was the major highlight! All season we were able to get very close to the seals in the Kyles of Bute and at breeding time could see the pups very clearly, which delighted our guests, as did frequent sightings of porpoises and dolphins. There were many sea birds to be spotted from Eagles and Gannets to a wide range of duck. Guests loved trying their hand at fishing, often very successfully, with the catch appearing on their plate at the next meal. Gathering wild mussels for “moules mariniere” was also very popular. The sheltered sea lochs of Argyll are perfect for swimming from the boat, which many guests loved to do.
Yet again, being able to examine the marine environment is one of the highlights for many of our guests; our facility to collect, sample and examine the minute and spectacular world of Plankton is one of the most unique experiences for many of our guests, as is exploring rock pools and the contents of our lobster pots.
Finally, the sheer delight of a starry night, moonlight on the water and hearing only the sound of the waves lapping on the boat or the single cry of a wading bird, leaves our guests revived and exhilarated.
One of the highlights of our season! A breaching humpback whale in Loch Long!
